ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Nowhere on earth is one more acutely aware of the reciprocity between heaven and earth than here in
New Mexico. My landscapes reference those moments when light ignites the land and the rhythms taking place there. Certain trees, plants and land forms are symbolic for me as icons of place.

I paint watercolors on location, en plein air. Often larger oils are developed from these studies. Being out on the land through these dramatic seasonal changes lets me feel connected to the infinite variations of color and light in our landscape.

I hope to paint and praise the mystery within the ordinary.
